Finding a new home: "YOU'RE HIRED"

I’m starting a new position as Director of Research & Strategy at BrandBossHQ / WMHarper!
(CHECK OUT TIKTOK!)
A big thank you to Bill Harper and Rachelle Van Soest for the opportunity.
I am beyond thrilled to join this amazing team. And thank you to everyone who has supported me through my search.
A huge shout out to 🔥 Kara Redman at Backroom - this was a job she posted on her weekly job lists!
An unusual strategy for a digital company: "UNPLUG FROM YOUR PHONE"
This is the "PhoneBook" by Hinge. Hinge, if you don't know, is a dating app. Their tagline is "the dating app designed to be deleted" - you read that right. They want to foster relationships built on foundations of real life experiences - not virtual. This is a book made to look like a phone filled with ideas on how to unplug. I like that as a strategy - it goes against the grain, so I decided to do a mock unboxing of this fake phone and have some fun.
As a strategist, I am fascinated on how they've chosen to differentiate themselves in very busy space. I have two daughters, and I like that there are brands out there encouraging meaningful and relationships Bravo!

Why do sooo many ads suck lately: "IT'S NOT CREATIVE'S FAULT"
Why do we fall: "YOU KNOW THE ANSWER..."
"So we can learn to pick ourselves up," of course. It is a beautifully simple and powerful line. Yes, I stole that from Batman Begins, but I'm sure Christopher Nolan borrowed it from something else. It's not a new idea, but one that we must sometimes be reminded of when the fall stings a bit more than usual.
I posted the LinkedIn post with great fanfare.
Even Mark Pollard, the strategy mind behind Sweathead, weighed in with some tips. One of which was the relization that my experience "spans America."
Eric Silver (Cronin CCO - famous for "Fearless Girl) once told me, "I like the cut of your jib sir." He made it clear that I was hired for my brain - he liked the fact the I think differently.
If you want to know more about my work, click on the strategy tab above. You'll need to email me for the password. ;)
This strategy exercise is what I did to drive my job hunt forward. It's also what got the attention of Mark Pollard. If you ever get the chance, please read his book: order here.

My work at Cronin: "STRATEGIC POWERHOUSE"
In just six months at Cronin and Co., I made an explosive impact, delivering strategies that shattered expectations and ignited groundbreaking creative work.
I tapped into hidden insights to forge fresh and daring campaigns that broke the mold for our clients. From running client workshops and crafting creative briefs to building captivating newsletters and leading research efforts, my strategic prowess fueled impactful projects.
Whether it was micro-campaigns, bold branding innovations, or revamping the look and feel of direct mail and credit cards, my work sparked the flames of success.

Starting a New Chapter: "TURNING TO STRATEGY"

After nearly 20 years in the media industry, I decided to pivot my career into something new. In December of 2022 I accepted the position of Director of Strategy for Cronin and Co. They are a robust and growing advertising agency based out of Connecticut with historical roots and reach across the US.
Honoring Veterans: "FOR THOSE THAT HAVE, FOR THOSE THAT ARE, AND FOR THOSE THAT WILL SERVE IN THE FUTURE - THANK YOU"
FOX25 partners with an amazing veterans group: Warriors For Freedom. This will mark the second year I put together a 30 min special devoted to honoring our veterans and encouraging others to do the same. It will air on both our channels.
On average 22 veterans commit suicide every day. I hope that we can bring this number down by helping organizations like Warriors For Freedom.

Drive Done Different: "FEEDING THE HUMAN SPIRIT"
I uncovered a new way to do the classic holiday food drive with some help from my friends at Kroger. Instead of relying on donations at grocery stores, what if you could make create a real impact for everyone involved?
Enter my pitch to Kroger: We'll promote your new grocery delivery service and encourage people to place orders and in return you donate $5 worth of food for every order placed to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. They agreed! And not only that, but they will bank the amount raise and the Food Bank can order whatever they need and have it delivered by Kroger. Win, Win, Win, and another Win!
This means it takes a big push to drive orders. We're doing radio ad, tv, and digital/social ads to push the drive. See our content below.
The result? An increase in orders and awareness for Kroger Delivery and more that $64,000 worth of food going to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma... that two tractor trailers full of food!

Not What You Expect: "LOOK CLOSER, CLOSER, CLOSER"
I borrowed an idea from an Instagram artist and applied it to photography... all to make a messaging point. Our new Chief Meteorologist is different from the other guys in our market. Take a look. Props to our producer for executing the painstaking task of stitching photos together. Social media version on the left, 16x9 version on the bottom. Here is where we got the inspiration.
Your Brand: "SAY IT, MEAN IT, LIVE IT!"

1/8
This is the 4th Habitat For Humanity home I have had the honor of building. FOX25's tag line and brand statement is "We've Got Your Back." We say it often. We mean it everyday. And today is just another example of how we live it.
Your brand can either be a thing that you dust off when you need it, or a driving force that elevates everything else about your organization. But you have to live it for it mean anything.
Take a look at the photos and the web-story below and tell me, did we hit the mark?
